Sweater vest over shirt and jeans

Shirt: Lane Bryant (summer 2011)
Vest: Hand-knit CustomFit, using KnitPicks Stroll and Felici (winter 2014)
Jeans: Torrid (summer 2012)
Socks: Sock Dreams
Shoes: Crocs (fall 2013)
Earrings: Torrid (winter 2006) and Alex’s Misfit Joys, vendor at MAGfest (winter 2014)

Oh! My awesome newly-finished sweater vest! When Mia wore a striped chevron vest a few years ago, I knew I wanted one, and put it on my list of things to knit. After one false start, I finally finished this up a couple weeks ago. If you are interested in the technical aspects, you can read much more about it over at our knitting blog.

Katamari Damacy earrings

Last weekend was AwesomeCon and this was my outfit for Saturday’s adventures. I paired my awesome newly-finished sweater vest with little pink hoops and The Prince of All Cosmos for a subtle geeky flair.

Happy cat socks and flats

Happy cat socks and super comfortable Crocs flats rounded out the outfit and made it possible to not be too cranky for wandering the con floor all afternoon. The line to get in was ridiculously long (but not nearly as ridiculous on a San Diego Comic Con level) and nearly every session I wanted to attend was full, but I caught some amazing cosplay—Ursula! In fact, two Ursulas!—and chatted with a few very nice people.

Casual skirt and hoodie

Shirt: Old Navy (fall 2012)
Hoodie: Torrid (spring 2007)
Skirt: Lane Bryant Catalog (spring 2003)
Earrings: Torrid (summer 2012)
Earrings: Optimystical Studios, at GeekGirlCon (summer 2012)
Socks: Target
Shoes: Naturalizer, at DSW (summer 2012)

In my previous post, I wrote about my experiences choosing new eyeglass frames; this is the outfit I wore out and about that day. I don’t often post my casual, errand-running outfits. I feel like I’ve gotten pretty good with making up workday wear, but casual things that don’t include jeans and a tee shirt still stump me.

On Saturday, I bought a new flexible mini tripod for my camera, and this is the first shot taken while using it! Already, you can see the photo isn’t as cropped at my head and feet, meaning the $20 I spent has already been worth it.

The Winchester Brothers

Do you watch Supernatural? Then you’d have no issues recognizing the Winchesters. A suitably genre-TV nerdy necklace for me, but also not something that I would wear to work on a regular basis.

Striped socks and flats

These socks and shoes, however, and suitable for almost any occasion.
