Stripey sweater vest

Shirt: Lane Bryant (spring 2011)
Vest: Hand-knit CustomFit, using KnitPicks Stroll and Felici (winter 2014)
Skirt: Lane Bryant (fall 2010)
Socks: gift from parents (Christmas 2014)
Shoes: John Fluevog (summer 2014)
Earrings: vendor at Nerdapalooza (fall 2014)

This lovely little vest has been put on a shelf in my closet, not to be worn again until fall. It’s so comfortable to wear, and I love love love the way the stripes turned out. The look here with the black pencil skirt isn’t too off, but I think I do prefer wearing this one over fuller or flippier skirts.

Tea kettle

One day I will take a photo of this earrings set together. Here is the kettle! Last year, I photographed the tea cup.

I can’t get enough of these shoes. They have become my most-worn pair of Fluevogs. I’ll probably still get to wear them with outfits in the upcoming warmer weather, but not as often.

Shirtdress with sweater vest

Dress: eShakti (fall 2012)
Vest: Hand-knit CustomFit, using KnitPicks Stroll and Felici (winter 2014)
Socks: Target
Shoes: Crocs (summer 2013)
Earrings: Optimystical Studios, at Geek Girl Con (summer 2012)
Necklace: Torrid (summer 2012)

Yes, I had just worn the stripey chevron sweater vest two days before this, but I love love love it so much, I’m wearing it out before summer hits and it goes in the closet until fall. This blue shirtdress matches the blue a little better than the shirt I’d previously worn with it. Perhaps next time I’ll try a color other than blue for the underlayer.

Star necklace

I really wanted the vest to shine through, but I did chose cute little stars for the necklace. The green in the earrings also goes well with the green in the vest.

Striped socks and flats

Because I was dealing with the heel blisters from Easter Sunday, comfortable shoes were imperative for work on Monday. I chose the Crocs flats and Band-aid Advanced Healing bandages.

Sweater vest over shirt and jeans

Shirt: Lane Bryant (summer 2011)
Vest: Hand-knit CustomFit, using KnitPicks Stroll and Felici (winter 2014)
Jeans: Torrid (summer 2012)
Socks: Sock Dreams
Shoes: Crocs (fall 2013)
Earrings: Torrid (winter 2006) and Alex’s Misfit Joys, vendor at MAGfest (winter 2014)

Oh! My awesome newly-finished sweater vest! When Mia wore a striped chevron vest a few years ago, I knew I wanted one, and put it on my list of things to knit. After one false start, I finally finished this up a couple weeks ago. If you are interested in the technical aspects, you can read much more about it over at our knitting blog.

Katamari Damacy earrings

Last weekend was AwesomeCon and this was my outfit for Saturday’s adventures. I paired my awesome newly-finished sweater vest with little pink hoops and The Prince of All Cosmos for a subtle geeky flair.

Happy cat socks and flats

Happy cat socks and super comfortable Crocs flats rounded out the outfit and made it possible to not be too cranky for wandering the con floor all afternoon. The line to get in was ridiculously long (but not nearly as ridiculous on a San Diego Comic Con level) and nearly every session I wanted to attend was full, but I caught some amazing cosplay—Ursula! In fact, two Ursulas!—and chatted with a few very nice people.
